What is Master Data?
Definition
Master data represents the core business information that defines products, customers, suppliers, and other key entities. In PIM, it forms the single source of truth for product attributes, descriptions, and digital assets. Accurate master data ensures consistency across all internal and external systems.
Master data describes durable business entities rather than the events involving them. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a fixture appearing in many supplier updates, maintain its stable identifier and approved core attributes, and link changing source submissions to the same business entity.
