What is Customer Master Data?

Definition

Customer master data includes the core information about customers, such as names, segments, regions, and account data. While often managed in MDM systems, it integrates with PIM to align product offerings with customer needs. This ensures accurate pricing, catalog segmentation, and personalised product experiences.

Customer master data represents durable customer entities rather than individual orders. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a distributor account linked to an approved assortment, match the account identifier to the correct customer record, and prepare its authorized product selection without exposing other accounts.
