What is Content Lifecycle Management?

Definition

Content lifecycle management oversees the creation, editing, approval, publishing, updating, and retirement of product content. PIM platforms provide structured workflows to manage versions and maintain traceability. This ensures every product carries the most accurate and up-to-date information across channels.

Content moves through states such as draft, review, approved, published, and retired. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a revised installation guide, route it through review and link the approved version to the product, and withdraw the superseded asset from future deliveries.
