What is Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)?
Definition
PLM manages all stages of a product’s lifecycle, from concept to design, launch, maintenance, and retirement. When integrated with PIM, it ensures smooth transition from engineering to commercial data. This improves collaboration and speeds up product introductions.
PLM governs product development and engineering changes across the product lifecycle. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take an approved engineering change from a connected PLM, identify affected commercial specifications and supporting documents, and prepare controlled product-content updates for review.
