What is Product Specifications?

Definition

Specifications describe the technical and functional characteristics of a product, such as dimensions, materials, and performance. They guide manufacturing, compliance, and customer decision-making. PIM ensures specifications remain accurate and up-to-date across channels.

Specifications express measurable or defined product facts with units, conditions, and sources. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a technical sheet listing rated power and operating voltage, extract those specifications with their applicable units and conditions, and flag conflicts with the current approved record.
