What is Data Governance in PIM?
Definition
In PIM, data governance establishes rules, UOM, LOV standards, attribute naming conventions, and approval workflows. It ensures product information remains accurate, compliant, and trustworthy across all touchpoints. Strong governance creates accountability and improves channel readiness.
PIM governance determines who can change product information and under which conditions. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a supplier revision to a published voltage specification, check field ownership and route the change for technical approval, and release the authorized version with its decision history.
