What is Information Architecture (IA)?
Definition
Information Architecture defines how product data, metadata, and taxonomies are structured and organised within a system. In PIM, it ensures users can easily navigate, manage, and retrieve accurate product information. Strong IA supports scalability, usability, and efficient content workflows.
Information architecture organizes information for understanding and discovery, not just storage. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take lighting products with technical specifications and buying content, organize categories and labels around approved user needs, and make related product information easier to locate.
