What is Multi-Tenant Architecture?

Definition

Multi-tenant architecture allows multiple organisations to operate securely within the same cloud environment. In PIM, this means each tenant has isolated data, configurations, and user access while sharing core platform infrastructure. It ensures scalability, security, and cost efficiency for SaaS-based PIM systems.

Shared infrastructure must maintain tenant isolation in data access, processing, and configuration. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take catalog jobs from two separate organizations, process each job within its authorized tenant context, and prevent records and configuration from crossing tenant boundaries.
