What is Unified Data Model?
Definition
A comprehensive framework that consolidates product data from multiple systems into a single, coherent structure. It standardises formats, attributes, and relationships to ensure accuracy, interoperability, and easier governance. A unified data model enhances analytics, improves onboarding, and supports scalable PIM workflows.
A unified model aligns shared meanings while retaining domain-specific entities and responsibilities. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take products, suppliers, and locations represented in separate systems, map them to approved shared entity and relationship definitions, and use consistent context to prepare product updates.
