What is Data Security?
Definition
Measures and controls that protect product information against unauthorized access, breaches, or loss. In PIM, includes encryption, access control, audit logs, and compliance standards such as ISO 27001/SOC 2. Ensures product data remains confidential, reliable, and tamper-proof across systems.
Security combines technical controls with permissions, operational practices, and incident handling. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take restricted product-cost fields in a catalog operation, limit processing and outputs to authorized roles and services, and record access and prevent unauthorized publication.
