What is Cross-System Integration?

Definition

Cross-system integration connects PIM with ERP, CRM, OMS, DAM, and eCommerce systems to create a unified data ecosystem. It ensures smooth data exchange and avoids duplication, gaps, or inconsistencies. This enables businesses to operate with a single version of product truth.

System boundaries require explicit ownership of fields and rules for resolving conflicting changes. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a revised item identifier and product description, route each field to its authorized destination system, and flag conflicting updates rather than silently overwriting them.
