Product Information Management

One product master. Every plant, branch and warehouse it lives in.

Autonera keeps shared product truth in one place while each location carries the attributes, assortments and rules that only apply there, without copying records.

The capability

Global definitions with local precision

Multi-location product management lets a single product record serve many operating sites. Attributes such as specifications, certifications and descriptions are defined once at the global level. Each plant, branch or distribution center inherits those values automatically and can override only what genuinely differs locally, such as lead time, pack quantity, labeling language or bin location.

Location-only attributes, such as storage locations or regional compliance references, live alongside inherited data, and each location can declare its own required attributes. A product can be complete for one site and held for another, which reflects how industrial businesses actually release items.

Because overrides are explicit, teams always know whether a value is inherited or local. Updating a global attribute flows to every location that has not overridden it, and reverting an override restores inheritance without rework.

Problems it solves

Where this work usually breaks down

01

Copies of the same item per site

Duplicating records per location multiplies maintenance. A specification change gets applied in one copy and missed in the others.

02

Local differences hidden in free text

Lead times, pack quantities and label requirements end up in notes fields that systems cannot validate or publish.

03

One readiness standard for every site

A European site may require compliance references that a US branch does not. Global completeness rules either block everyone or miss local requirements.

04

No view of what is stocked where

Without location assortments, catalogs and portals show items a site cannot supply.

Functional capabilities

What Multi-Location Product Management includes

Attribute inheritance
Global values flow to every location automatically until a location explicitly overrides them.
Location-specific overrides
Override individual attributes per site with a clear marker, and revert to inherited values at any time.
Location-only attributes
Model data that exists only at site level, such as bin locations, regional compliance references or local supplier codes.
Location assortments
Control which products each plant, branch or distribution center stocks, sells or manufactures.
Location readiness rules
Define required attributes per location so release decisions reflect each site's real obligations.
Multi-company and multi-brand structures
Combine locations with company and brand hierarchies so groups with several business units share one master.
Location-aware publishing
Feed regional catalogs, portals and ERP instances with the resolved values for their location.

How it works

See inheritance and local overrides across three sites

Change a global value, then switch locations to see which sites inherit it and which keep a local override. Set location-only attributes and toggle assortments to watch readiness change per site.

In industrial operations

A valve manufacturer with plants and regional distribution

A manufacturer produces bronze ball valves in Mexico and distributes through US and EU distribution centers. Each site needs the same technical data but different pack quantities, label languages and compliance references.

  1. Engineering maintains pressure ratings, materials and dimensions once in the global master.
  2. The EU distribution center overrides pack quantity and label language and adds its pressure equipment compliance reference as a location-only attribute.
  3. The plant adds bin locations used by production and receiving.
  4. When engineering updates the standard lead time, every site that has not overridden it updates immediately; the EU site's readiness rule holds release until its compliance reference is present.

Result: Each site sees an accurate, complete product without duplicate records, and global changes reach every location on the same day.

Autonomous operations

How autonomous execution changes multi-location product management

Agents watch for global changes, identify which locations are affected and complete location data from approved sources, while location owners keep authority over their overrides.

Agents carry out

  • Detect locations whose required attributes are missing
  • Propose local values from site ERP or supplier data
  • Flag overrides that conflict with new global values
  • Prepare location-specific publishing payloads

People decide

  • Approve or reject proposed local values
  • Decide whether an override should remain after a global change
  • Own location assortments and readiness rules

Evidence recorded

  • Origin of every inherited and local value
  • History of overrides and reversions per site
  • Readiness results per location at release time

Buyer FAQs

Questions evaluators ask

Do we need a separate product record for each location?

No. One product record carries global values plus location-level overrides and location-only attributes. Each site sees the resolved view for that location.

What happens to overrides when a global value changes?

Locations that inherit the value update automatically. Locations with an override keep their value, and Autonera can flag those overrides for review.

Can each location have different completeness requirements?

Yes. Required attributes are configurable per location, so readiness is evaluated against each site's own rules.

Does this support multiple companies and brands?

Yes. Locations can be organized under companies and brands so groups with several business units manage one shared master.

How is location data sent to other systems?

Integrations and syndication use the resolved values for each location, so regional ERPs, catalogs and portals receive the data that applies to them.
