What is Semantic Search?

Definition

Semantic search interprets user intent and contextual meaning rather than relying solely on keywords. Using AI and NLP, it improves product discoverability through intelligent matching. PIM-supported semantic search boosts conversions and reduces zero-result queries.

Semantic search finds conceptual relevance but does not prove technical compatibility. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a request for fixtures suitable for a warehouse, retrieve conceptually relevant products from approved content, and check explicit specifications before proposing a final selection.
