What is Schema Mapping?
Definition
Schema mapping aligns fields and structures between two systems to enable smooth data transfer. It ensures accurate synchronisation between PIM, ERP, eCommerce platforms, and marketplaces. Effective mapping eliminates mismatches and reduces integration errors.
Schema mapping relates structures, including nesting and field transformations, across systems. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a supplier's nested product JSON, map its specification structure to the target product schema, and validate the resulting target record before loading.
Schema Mapping in an autonomous operation
- Step 1:
Input
A supplier's nested product JSON
- Step 2:
Schema Mapping
Map its specification structure to the target product schema
- Step 3:
Outcome
Validate the resulting target record before loading
