What is Exception-Driven Operations?

Definition

Exception-driven operations allow routine work to proceed automatically while directing unusual, ambiguous, or policy-sensitive situations to people for review. The objective is to focus human attention on the situations that actually require it rather than requiring people to review every transaction.

Routine cases can proceed within rules while people focus on unresolved decisions. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a catalog batch containing conflicting voltage values, complete permitted updates and isolate the conflicting records, and request human decisions only for the unresolved exceptions.
